Casting the My Chemical Romance 'I'm Not Okay' Music Video Movie

This week, we sat down and thought hard about the music video for MCR's "I'm Not Okay," specifically the video.

Two quick takeaways:

  • It is good

  • The solo rips

Groundbreaking analysis, to be sure.

Anyways, since the music video is presented like a movie trailer, we figured we'd cast that movie. (FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT: Nerds vs. Jocks at a co-ed private high school. Imagine if Wes Anderson wrote a screenplay for a 'Revenge of the Nerds' prequel.)

Here we go.

Lead Singer: Shawn Mendez

Every teen movie worth its weight has a misunderstood real-life attractive person who wears glasses to become a dork, a la 'She's all that.' Depending on budget, let Shawn play the whole band, a la 'Nutty Professor.'

Dad: Jack White

A pale Jack White. The paler the better.

Bill Joe Armstrong.jpg

Uncle who moves in with dad because the mom died: Billy Joe Amstrong.

Pale that shit up.

(NOTE: Only use like three colors in the home life scenes -- make that shit a White Stripes album cover.)

(ANOTHER NOTE: Let Luke from Gilmore Girls play that same character in this high school's fictional town. Are the Gilmore girls in the diner when Shawn Mendes comes by for coffee? Director's choice. But yes.)

High School Staff

Dean: Maggie Smith (Prof. McGonagall)

Principals from Saved by the Bell and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Dennis Haskins, Martin Mull). Also toss in the "inconceivable" guy from Princess Bride (Wallace Shawn).

(ALSO: Snoop Dog plays his character from 'Malibu's Most Wanted,' that talking rat. Shawn Mendes will receive sage advice from this animal before his trial for expulsion comes around, because of all those pranks against the jocks, a la 'Accepted.')

(ANOTHER NOTE: Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher play themselves, break fourth wall, comment on how pale Jack White Shawn Mendes and Billy Joe Armstrong all are at a bus stop or some crap.)

Janitor that helps band unlock all the rooms to pull respective pranks:

Janitor from Scrubs.

We hope you enjoyed the show. Have a nice day. Be good to each other.
