All aboard the hype train: it’s time for the Forever The Sickest Kids “Whoa Oh! (Me vs. Everyone)” music video rewatch.

While the energy of this video is both endearing and enduring, it is also mother fucking chaotic. Let’s get into the winners and losers:

WINNER: Running up to your instruments to begin a video

Give me the hype, the whole hype, and nothing but the hype.

WINNER: Headbanging

Still gets the job done (re: hype).

WINNER: Having more than two lead singers

Like lead singers? FTSK has three. Three! It’s hype!

LOSER: A music video with cars, girls (et al.) where the irony is unclear

Not new: a music video with cars and girls. New: doing it ironically? But maybe not ironically? Unclear.

WINNER: Scene hair

Somewhat miraculously, all three singers in this band have different, yet beautiful, versions of 2000s scene hair.

UNDECIDED: Number of acceptable stage moves allotted to keyboardists

Mule kicks are really all they’ve got. The FTSK keyboardist is doing all he can with what he’s got, even throwing on a period-appropriate trucker hat to bring whatever hype he can to the aforementioned hype train that is the “WHOA OH” Music video.

WINNER: Sliding on your knees with a guitar!

Still gets the job done! (Re: hype!)

LOSER: Sliding on your knees with a guitar too much?

Maybe take it down a notch? I know this is a hype train but, damn.

WINNER: Having “Whoa oh” as the lyrics to your chorus, maximizing sing-along potential

What can I say? It’s an infectiously catchy song and fun video. They’re running and jumping and mule kicking and knee sliding all over the damn place. I’m very much here for it. In a word, it’s hype.

Thanks for being here everybody.

BONUS: A WENDY PEFFERCORN ‘SANDLOT’ NOD

There is a loose storyline to the video, where one of the lead singers steals a race car to impress one of the girls at the track. He sustains non-fatal injuries in the crash, ultimately landing a smooch from his new crush, a la The Sandlot, which is a swell movie.
