“That Thing You Do!” is a great movie about a small-town band hitting the big time. It is so good. Like, really good.

I can’t recommend enough being born in the places your favorite movies are set in. It has made the movie just that much better for me, personally.

I really can’t stress enough how being born in Erie, Pennsylvania, a matter I had no choice in, has helped me enjoy “That Thing You Do!” You should really try it! They even reference some real Erie places and things in the film. It’s really awesome.
I’m not even being ironic, I fucking love this movie. I wish you could have been born in Erie, too, just so we could talk about how fucking good this movie is.
If you were born in Manchester, I’m sorry that you were dealt “Manchester By The Sea,” because that movie is sad as shit. Have you seen “That Thing You Do!” because that movie literally rocks. What luck!
Were you not born in Erie? I am really sorry to hear that. Don’t get me wrong, in almost every other measurable way you probably were set up to have a better life, but this very specific context, the context of how much you may enjoy the movie “That Thing You Do!” then I really just feel sorry for you.
